NEW : Healing Traumatic Brain Injury with Hormones
The important new work by Mark L. Gordon, MD.

By Joseph Carrington

It can happen without warning: you slip in the shower and hit your head, a car swerves and hits you, a small stroke occurs and suddenly you can't speak, your mobility is limited, and your world shrinks.

These are real-life examples of the often intractable effects of traumatic brain injury or TBI. And thanks to the groundbreaking work of Dr. Mark L. Gordon and a handful of forward-looking physicians, there's new hope for the 1.7 million Americans afflicted with this condition.

Using cutting-edge hormone replacement techniques, Gordon and his colleagues are helping to change the way we think about traumatic brain injuries, their symptoms - and how to treat them effectively. In his clinical practice, Dr. Gordon is developing new protocols that may revolutionize the devastating impact of traumatic brain injuries. One of the biggest patient populations in need of urgent care are the soldiers returning from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our story begins with them.

Vitamin C and Protection from Radiation
This is important for anyone who has been in any of the Middle East conflicts since 1991 because of the exposure to depleted uranium.

Vitamin C Prevents Radiation Damage
Nutritional Medicine in Japan

(OMNS, Feb 1, 2012) Workers with severe radiation exposure at the Fukushima nuclear plant had major reduction in cancer risk when supplemented with vitamin C and other anti-oxidative nutrients. Sixteen men aged between 32 and 59 years worked 5 to 6 weeks in a radiation contaminated area, collecting contaminated water, measuring radiation levels, operating heavy machinery, and removing debris. Blood samples were obtained to measure whole blood counts and blood chemistry, plasma levels of free DNA, and 47 cancer related gene expressions.

Four workers who took intravenous vitamin C (25,000 mg) therapy before they went in, and continuously took anti-oxidative supplements during the working period, had no significant change in both free DNA and overall cancer risk.

Three workers that did not have preventive intravenous vitamin C had an increase in calculated cancer risk. After 2 months of intervention with intravenous vitamin C and oral anti-oxidative nutritional supplements, free DNA returned to normal level and cancer risk score was significantly decreased. (1)

This important clinical demonstration confirms research done nearly 20 years ago showing that pretreatment with vitamin C, by oral intake or injection, increased sperm head survival after the injection of radioactive Iodine-131 in mice. (2)

Oral intake of alpha-lipoic acid and vitamin E reduced urinary radioactivity and oxidative stress in irradiated children in Chernobyl. (3) Furthermore, there have been numerous scientific studies about the radio-protective effects of other vitamins, minerals, and antioxidative nutrients.

The uranium particles when inhaled through the nose "walk up" the olfactory nerve into the brain. The brain is the primary target of uranium and causes every kind of damage imaginable. The soldiers are mentally ill, PTSD is the cover-up.

Uranium travels nerves from nose to brain.

Protection Against Radiation by IP6 and Inositol -

Role of the olfactory receptor neurons in the direct transport of inhaled uranium to the rat brain
A report in the journal RADIATION PROTECTION DOSIMETRY
(E-publication ahead of print 12 July 2007)
by D. Cebrian and colleagues from the Radiobiology Laboratory
of the Department of Environment, CIEMAT, Madrid, Spain,
show
a strong affinity of inositol hexaphosphate (IP-6) for uranium, suggesting that it could be an effective chelating agent for uranium in vivo

The 2007 Centennial Meeting of The American Association for Cancer Research on Translational Medicine was held in Singapore 4-8 November 2007.
A paper presented by Shamsuddin and colleagues showed that IP-6 and inositol protect human cells against radiation damage in the laboratory (in vitro) in various ways. For example while irradiation caused increased cell death (loss of cell attachment, apoptosis and necrosis) IP-6 and inositol treatment prevented cell death, in vitro. In vivo (in laboratory mice) either oral or topically administered IP-6 + Inositol significantly reduced the incidence and multiplicity of UV-induced skin tumors in mice. These data therefore suggest that IP-6 + inositol could help protect us from various forms of radiation damage such as UV from sun-exposure, radiation therapy,
cosmic radiation, accidental or induced nuclear blasts etc.

Pine Nut oil and Cedar Nut oil show benefit for recovery from
radiation exposure.

Pine mouth
, a bitter taste in your mouth after eating pine nuts
may be related to pine nuts from China or rancid nuts.

Radiation is energy distributed across the electromagnetic spectrum.
Approximately 80% of all radiation encountered normally by
mammals is from naturally-occurring sources. Radiation, particularly ionizing radiation, has an adverse effect on cells and tissues, primarily through cytotoxic effects. In humans, exposure to ionizing radiation occurs primarily through therapeutic techniques such as anticancer radiotherapy, through occupational and/or environmental exposure to human-derived radiation sources, or through occupational exposure to naturally-occurring radiation sources as in the case of aircraft flight personnel. And of course there is always the potential of war-time, accidental or terrorist-induced nuclear blast. One of the chronic or late effects of radiation-damage is cancer; the common non-melanoma skin cancer from sun-exposure is attributed to UV radiation.

PTSD, Alcohol and Chemical Dependency

Over the past several years articles have surfaced periodically calling attention to the increase in alcohol abuse in members of the military who have returned from deployment.

This is not a new phenomenon, and these concerns have been recoded as part of the after effects of combat throughout history.

Several articles have been in the news of late (2009). However, if one takes the time to look into the news archives from the previous three to five years, you can read the same words, just in a different form.

Since there has been no substantive change in care, it is sad to conclude there has been no creative or new approach to this problem.  Treatment is still prescription drugs and in some cases concomitant therapy.

The pharmaceutical approach hasn’t been proven effective but it is the one that connects to billable hours for insurance via the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) in the standard mainstream approach to chemical abuse / dependency and mental health.

I don’t necessarily agree with this model, and it is of great concern to me that eyes-ears-and minds are closed to other approaches.

I also maintain that the current state of 12 Step models keep people captive at Step 3-4, in order to perpetuate this system.  I believe, based on my work in mental health and chemical dependency, which includes a shift to working on Step 12, resolves more and heals more.

Veterans Support: Mesothelioma -

Navy veterans who worked in navy shipyards and or served on our nation’s warships and submarine’s from WWII through the Vietnam War were exposed to high concentrations of deadly asbestos. Boiler rooms, engine rooms, sleeping quarters, and other areas of naval vessels were the most common areas where as asbestos was present. As a result, Navy veterans are at a greater risk of developing mesothelioma.

Paul Kraus never knew asbestos was dangerous.

Nobody told him it could cause cancer when he worked around it as a young man. Thirty years later he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, the asbestos caused cancer and given a few months to live.  But, he did not give up.  Twelve years after he was given a “death sentence” he continues to do well.

His inspirational book “Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide” describes his recovery from mesothelioma using non-orthodox approaches and is available at www.survivingmesothelioma.com.  His website also contains information on asbestos, tos, mesothelioma treatments, and other survivors.

This Veteran’s Resource Project was started because of the lack of help for veterans.

We thank the Baker Fund for their generous donation to this project.

We offer natural treatment information that may be of help to veterans. and their families. - without charge

We ask for donations to keep the project going.
